Eco Friendly Reading – The Kindle

If you love to read but hate the resources used to make a book consider buying a Kindle or other electronic devise for eco friendly reading.

The Kindle offers a lot! It is portable, stores a number of books (1,500 in one model) and convenient.

Though the price of several hundred dollars may seem a bit high at first, over the long run the costs savings on books adds up and the impact to our environment is huge.

One thing I love about this eco friendly devise is how fast it delivers your books! If you see one you like and order it, it delivers your book in under 60 seconds. Amazon has close to 400,000 books that are kindle ready.

If you love to read the Kindle is an excellent eco friendly reading choice.

Herbal Insect Repellent

I’ve made the choice to buy herbal insect repellent…here’s why:

Summer is rapidly approaching and that means that mosquito’s will be out and about soon. I actually live in Hawaii and we have mosquitos year ’round. They never go away…

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I think it’s important to mention here that the personal care industry isn’t regulated by anyone. That means that we’re in charge of ourselves when it comes to knowing what products we buy. Insect repellent falls into the category of personal care products – and that means that the ingredients aren’t being regulated.

The most concerning thing about traditional bug spray is that it contains DEET. And DEET is just a fancy name for a pesticide. Because our skin is able to absorb things that we put on it, DEET gets into our blood stream and let’s just say that it’s not a good thing.

Of course, the West Nile Virus isn’t a good thing either. However, there are alternatives. Healthy and safe alternatives. Those alternatives come in the form of herbal repellents.

As you choose your bug spray for this summer, make sure that you check closely for ingredients that might be harmful. The most important ingredient to avoid is DEET. After that, it’s also wise to look for a herbal insect repellent that is made of 100% natural ingredients. For example, All Terrain offers a All Terrain Herbal Armor Lotion
that is made of 100% natural ingredients and it’s DEET free, which makes it an all-around good choice.

One last thing to remember is that natural bug sprays may need to be applied more often than those that contain DEET. Make sure that you read the application instructions carefully and follow them to the letter.

Be safe and bug free this summer – choose insect repellent that works and it good for the environment!
